1.Our world has seen a number of crazy technologies that are capable of things that people would’ve only dreamed about just a few decades ago.

2.It’d start to revolutionize the way we communicate, travel and live.

3.But how far has technology evolved in the field of education?

4.Unfortunately, in our part of the world, technology has not yet been fully implemented to good use in our education system.

5.If only we could bring our netbooks, smartphones and PDAs to school, wouldn’t it be easier for students to learn in class?

6.For a typical local student, it sounds too good to be true.

7.Imagine if we could abolish the boring conventional ways of learning in school and transform the learning system entirely with a little added creativity and the aid of multimedia technology.

8.Students with individual netbooks could download an entire syllabus and study them at home.

9.Multimedia programs can help students learn without the presence of a tutor.

10.A networking system in school allows bulletins and announcements through to people.

11.Students should be free to bring their hand phones or laptops or mp3s to class.

12.They should even be able to choose not to attend class since the need for them to be physically present is not required and when they could do something more productive with their creative tools all in the comfort of their own homes.

13.When we think about it, the idea of an establishment that gathers students together in a classroom is starting to look ancient when we consider the fast advancement of our communication technology. It may seem like a farfetched idea but now is the time for people to realize that our fast-paced race to a more sophisticated civilization will advance to the point that education will have to be rebuilt on the grounds of multimedia technology as a necessity for a more creative generation.

Method

As we all know random association is Random Word technique, the most basic and obviously creative technique where we use a random word to generate new ideas. By getting a random word as a prompt and forcing our self to use it to solve our problem we are practically guaranteed to attack the problem from a different direction to normal. We take a word from a random word generator, extract its underlying principles and then apply them to our problem to see how they can help.

Statement or Problem

The deficiency of the local education system has to be reconsidered. The recent educational system has to be entirely rebuilt alongside the growth of technology to make the most out of students’ lives with the help of multimedia technology.

A New Creative Take on Education


Many people warn of the possible harmful effects of using technology in the classroom. Will children lose their ability to relate to other human beings? Will they become dependent on technology to learn? Will they find inappropriate materials? The same was probably said with the invention of the printing press, radio, and television because we human being always afraid of testing or applying new thing in our life and the habit of doing something can’t be change easily. All of these can be used inappropriately, but all of them have given humanity unbounded access to information which can be turned into knowledge. Appropriately used-- interactively and with guidance-- they have become tools for the development of higher order thinking skills.

Few decades ago our world was testing lot of crazy technology in different field like in medical treatment, communication, transportation, management, government safety, arms, weapons etc. It’d start to revolutionize the way we communicate, travel and live. But we still afraid to use the multimedia technology in education then still we go to school with the lots of books, pens, pencil or the school bag is more bigger than the children size. Why we still afraid of using new creative way of learning? Why we still afraid of using the multimedia technology in our learning system?

If only we could bring our netbooks, smartphones and PDAs to school, wouldn’t it be easier for students to learn in class? We feel that it sound too good for local student because students can learn with fun. And the knowledge with the fun can remember for long time which is proofed by many scientists in this world. That’s why we always try to make fun in class. Here we are talking that why we don’t use that multimedia technology which will make the student life more colorful and enjoyable.
Imagine if we could abolish the boring conventional ways of learning in school and transform the learning system entirely with a little added creativity and the aid of multimedia technology. A networking system in school allows bulletins and announcements through to people. These types of technology are nothing new in the realm of the higher education, in colleges and universities. Why we still afraid to use the same concept in our school system. Where, students should be free to bring their hand phones or laptops or mp3s in classrooms. Because it is not only the device of communication or entertainment it can be used to learn. Why we don’t think it positively and we allow the student where the students can use such device to enhance their knowledge.

Inappropriately used in the classroom, technology can be used to perpetuate old models of teaching and learning. Students can be "plugged into computers" to do drill and practice that is not so different from workbooks. Teachers can use multimedia technology to give more colorful, stimulating lectures. Both of these have their place, but such use does not begin to tap the power of these new tools. In this area, students will learn how computers can be used to stimulate and develop writing skills, collaborate with peers in foreign countries, do authentic kinds of research that is valuable to the adult world, and do complex kinds of problem solving that would otherwise be impossible.

As we know children from as early as 6 go on to spend 12 years in school just to learn as usual the same thing. Yes we appreciate that there are some grade in school and they learn something different in different grade. Still we are pushing our old model of education on them and trying to make our student to learn without their interest. So here why we don’t use the technology so students can learn from anywhere with their comfort life, which will create more interest on studying and make better people for our great future. As we know the education is given for the production of good and educated candidate for the nation development. The government always want to have the most talented people with them but why they still afraid of using the greatest creative multimedia technology on our education system.

In conclusion, we have lot of creative technology in this world unfortunately, in our part of the world; technology has not yet been fully implemented to good use in our education system and we still afraid to apply on our education system. It may seem farfetched but the time already come where people is realizing that our technology is advance to the point that the education system will have to catch up even if it means abolishing and revolutionizing the education system in its entirety.

The third meeting for our group discussion, we had clarify some problem and how to solve the problem and some method from our chosen topic. We had found the solution to solve the problem, which we learned from the lecture lesson. For our solution, we used random association to solve this problem.
According to schedule we have to consult to our lecturer about our assignment progress during the class time. So today we make our consultation to Mr. …………………………….. at 11:15 am in the classroom. Where he accept our idea and he said he is happy with our job but he still want to see our method and step of generating idea clearly. He also mentioned that he was really interested to see our final product on our blog. And he suggested that we all have to post same thing in our blog.

The second meeting, we had discussed to divide the task for the production of this assignment 2.
For the first stage we had to create a Logical mind map based on creative studies as the major view for this assignment 2.
Then, we had to deepen the topic for our focus mind map (A NEW CREATIVE TAKE ON EDUCATION by using motion graphic).

As we discussed on our last meeting today we have to make our focus mind map. But we have to choose the topic for the focus mind map where we discussed and decided to make the uses of creative multimedia on education. Then we produced another focus mind map. Where we just focus on our topic “uses of creative multimedia technology on our education system.” We finished our meeting for today after we decided to see tomorrow for the essay writing.

Progress 1

We are in group of five, Syed, Ashraf, Faizal, Hafidz and Bishnu.
We had given a task to create a creative thing for this assignment 2.
So for the first group meeting, we had discussed many topics but we are still in blur with the task given.
After a couple hours, the leader had explained everything and we had chosen a topic. The topic of our group is A NEW CREATIVE TAKE ON EDUCATION by using motion graphic.

Today we have the first meeting. As we know we got another group assignment for creative studies. Our theme is “creative multimedia”. We have to make a presentation based on this theme and we have to follow one of the methods of idea generation with the correct step of creative studies. Then today we did the first logical mind map which is general mind map which include the basic information about the creative multimedia. Finally we decided to make the focus mind map on our next meeting.

Random Words

Creative people must try to think more than ordinary people do, and one of the best way is by random words.In the process to find new ideas, we need to THINK about ANYTHING as long as it is related by finding random words.
This way the process of thinking can develop lots of new amazing ideas that not all regular people can achieve.
And we must not put a block in our findings.
Like its name, random words can be anything like personality, characteristic or habit of the subject.



Our task is to create a scary image or object that will scare people through out the age. Kitten is my subject, and I must find out the characteristics about it. In my mind map I point out a few characters
about kittens that is relevant to our task that is "scary"

Excercise About Juxtaposition

This week Mr Radzi taught us about Juxtaposition but we were able to practice it more from what we had learned last week (practice makes perfect).
My personal experience after doing this exercise, its more like a crazy way to get a new idea but I seriously think that it really works. Now I realize this maybe what people call "thinking outside the box".

Create a passage/writing that describe the concept of “Pain”
- Pain sometimes is just a spray bottle. Seeing something that comes out from the bottle is kind of a waste,
but if we stop doing it, it will stay remain.

What is Juxtaposition

Today's lesson is about Juxtaposition

Litteral meaning:
from iuxta “near” from Latin iungo (“to join”) and French position
(“position”) from Latin pono (“to place”).

"Juxtaposition can be defined as placing two variables, side by side and their contrast or similarities
are shown through comparison. Many creative processes rely on juxtaposition. By juxtaposing two objects
or words next to each other, human brain will automatically associate or transfer meaning. Usually 'turning'
something familiar to something less familar or vice-versa."

Juxtaposition is to compare two things side by side and contrast.
Through Juxtaposition, with two things side by side, the human brain will automatically transfer a new meaning. Nowadays juxtaposition is used in many medium of media for artists to show their idea creatively. We can see it in drawings, paintings, photographs and many more to show the differences or similarities between 2 objects.

Example of juxtaposition
Below is a political satire picture about George Bush found from the internet. In this picture the artist manage to find the same monkey expression to match him. Without any words when we see this picture we automatically know that this artwork tells that George Bush is a monkey.
How does it happen??. The answer is Juxtaposition. When two things are put side by side our brain will interpret a new meaning.

Mortar and Pestle

Mortar and pestle is a tool in a preparation of making food. It can be seen
commonly in all Malaysian kitchen and every race use it especially Malay and Indian.
Pestle is a stone that looks like a stick used to grind and crunch
ingredients. With its weight being heavy it can easily mix very well. Mortal is a bowl used
to put all the ingredient inside, and it's also made from the same material as pestle which is normally stone or granite.

Exercise in class
We were asked by Mr Radzi to draw and describe what might be the usage of Mortar and pestle in the future.
So after a few remakes, here is my CREATIVE idea.












I think The mind map exercise about mortal and pestle is about to expend our new idea and look it purpose in different perspective.

Mind Map About My Self

When we talk about "creativity study" one thing that comes to mind is the usage of mind map. Mind map is one of the most efficient way to put information into a diagram or chart in a proper way in order to make us see more clearly about a certain information and makes it easy to remember.
This method is used from a century ago until now, but it still becomes a popular technique for students, teachers, business and others for organizing and digesting the notes.

A good Mind map must use only short notes or key words as storyline. So sometimes with a simple mind map, it can deliver more than two pages of information if we interpret it to an essay. So it can save our time and make our notes look simple but sufficient.

For this class, we were asked by the lecturer to make a simple mind map about our self. So this is my mind map.

From the statement above, it is clear that creativity is all about making new and fresh ideas and and producing
them into reality to become something beneficial. Creativity is a way to look at one thing from a new perspective.
Sometimes creativity is not about making new ideas but also about developing an idea to be better.

Creativity does not only belong to certain parts of people like artists or designers, but it also comes from those who use
their brains to solve problems by creating new ideas. With deferent levels or amount of creativity, humans without
them realizing use creativity in their daily life.

Hello My name is Nurul Faizal Bin Mohd Zakaria 1071113695. This is my official blog for me to interpret my understanding about creativity from what I have learned from Creative Study class(MLC 1013).
