Nowadays the Internet has become a powerful medium to spread information from one person to another without limitation of time and distance. Internet can make news available by just one click. It is true to say that with the help of the Internet, the world would have no borders and everybody can get what they want. However the advantages that come together with advanced technology of the Internet could also bring bad side effects because of the abuse from some users.
From my confident perspective, the authenticity level of the materials taken from the Internet, I usually would stand at the middle point. 50 per cent suggests that I don’t believe and another 50 per cent suggests I believe, depending on where the source of the news comes either from individual (personal web, blog, email) or from a trusted registered source. (example newspaper web pages like www.utusan.com.my, www.cnn.com )
When news come from an unfamiliar source from the Internet like personal web pages, personal blogs, e-mail etc I usually would not put 100 per cent to believe it because we don’t know the authenticity of the author. Everybody can use other person’s identity in order to convince the reader to believe it. For me it happened because no tight enforcement from the authority from preventing false news from being published on the Internet. So everybody can write what they want using a fake identity. For example you can create your own blog or e-mail by using false identity (name, address, country, race) with ease so that no one would know the creator of the blog or website.
Thank You
